Info | Doug Shields took office as the Councilman for District 5 on January 5, 2004.
A lifelong resident of the City of Pittsburgh, Doug and his wife, Briget, have lived in Squirrel Hill for nearly 25 years. Their two children, Elliot and Liza, are recent graduates of the Pittsburgh Public School System and are presently attending college.
Doug served as the Chief of Staff for Councilman Bob O’Connor for 11 years and, prior to that, was a litigation paralegal at two of the city's prestigious law firms. He also served as an administrative assistant to Councilman William Peduto.
He was also the Chairman of Council's 2000 Reapportionment Committee, a member of the 1990 Reapportionment Committee, and served as Treasurer and Board Member of Community Technical Assistance Corporation (CTAC) for eight years.
Doug is presently the Chairman of the Board of the Regional Development Funding Corporation, a non-profit, Small Business Administration sponsored loan fund serving business throughout 17 Western Pennsylvania counties.
Doug is also serving as the chairperson for the Finance and Budget Committee for City Council.
