Info | Dr. William S. "Bill" Peirce
Dr. William S. Peirce (pronounced purse), (born December 7, 1938 in Stoneham, Massachusetts) is the Ohio Libertarian Party's candidate for Ohio Governor in the November 7, 2006 election (2005 Cohen). On November 12th, 2005, the Libertarian Party of Ohio made it's endorsement of Dr. Peirce official.
Political career
The 2006 Peirce campaign is centered upon its "Freedom to Prosper" plan. The plan proposes to cut taxes in Ohio across the board, the elimination of current Republican governor Bob Taft's tax increases, protection for homeowners and business people from eminent domain abuse, and increase school choice for parents and teachers.
Since the Libertarians are not yet recognized as an official political party in Ohio, Peirce must get on the ballot by petitions instead of by winning a Libertarian primary. The deadline for filing petitions is May 1, 2006.
Governor candidate Dr. Bill Peirce and Senate GOP Primary candidate Mr. Bill Pierce are both gradually gaining name recognition. Their similar names may cause confusion in the event that both Bills earn a spot on the November 7th ballot.
