| Info | Anthony Coghill, 42, is a lifelong resident of the 19th ward. He is running for the open City Council seat in District 4. Born and raised in the Shadycrest area of Beechview, Anthony is the youngest of three brothers. Having a passion for sports from a young age, Anthony spent much of his youth playing baseball at Vanucci Field. As a student of the Pittsburgh Public Schools, Anthony was active in athletics and was on the 1982 football team at Brashear which went on to win the CityChampionship. In high school Anthony took on a part-time job with a local roofing company to help his mother make ends meet.
Upon graduation, Anthony went into sales and marketing, a field in which he excelled. After a number of years, he then decided to combine his sales and marketing expertise with the knowledge he acquired in the roofing industry and began Coghill Roofing Company. Fifteen years later, Coghill Roofing is one of the largest roofing companies in the City of Pittsburgh.
By working in the neighborhoods in District 4, Anthony saw many opportunities for improvement in our city and believed that he could be a proactive force in our community. Anthony became a member of the Lion's Club and served as the Vice President of the Beechview Merchant's Association. Through these experiences, Anthony saw that he could make an even bigger impact in our communities by becoming a member of city government.
In 2006, Anthony began working as a Constituent Liason for State Senator Wayne Fontana. An important part of this position is to attend neighborhood meetings with residents to get to know their issues and concerns. Anthony feels that with his business and community know-how, he can truly bring better business to our neighborhoods once elected to City Council.
Anthony still resides in Beechview and continues to have a successful roofing company. He has a daughter, Kelli, who attends Marymount College in New York and is an active member in her father's campaign. In his free time, Anthony loves to play golf and to spend time with his family and friends.
