InfoEdward David Redwine

Elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives from the 14th District in 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, 1998, and 2000.

David Redwine is a lifelong resident of North Carolina. Born in Wilmington, he has lived in Brunswick County the majority of his life. He was a member of the State House of Representatives for 19 years and was Chairman of the Appropriations Committee until 2002. While in the House, Redwine was instrumental in the saving of Bird Island as a state owned natural preserve and successfully brought money for transportation and infrastructure projects to the district. He was ranked as the second most effective legislator in the House of Representatives by the Center for Public Policy Research. He is running again because he feels he did not finish his work in Raleigh and believes his opponent is not doing enough to stand up for the residents of this district.

Redwine is Vice-President and partner of Coastal Insurance and Realty, Inc. He sits on the Board of Trustees of Eastern Carolina University (ECU), his alma mater and resides in Ocean Isle Beach with his wife, Penny. They have two grown daughters, and a son currently attending Wofford College.

Redwine is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including:

NC Order of Long Leaf Pine- the State's highest honor
Outstanding Alumnus 2001 from ECU
North Carolina Employment Security Commission Award
International IAWP Public Service Award
Brunswick County Early Childhood Advocate of the Year Award 2003.
