| Info | Christopher Michael Collins was elected to represent the constituency of Moncton East in the by-election held March 5, 2007.
Chris was born on June 23, 1962 in Saint John, New Brunswick. After graduating from Harrison Trimble High School in 1980, he went on to study Political Science and Philosophy at Saint Thomas University in Fredericton.
For 21 years, Mr. Collins worked in roles from sales representative to key account representative for international companies like Clairol, L'Oréal, and Alberto-Culver. He is currently member of the Customer Business Development team at General Mills Canada.
Past Commander of the Shediac Power and Sail Squadron, Mr. Collins has contributed to the sports community as a Minor Soccer coach and Moncton Minor Hockey volunteer. He is also an ardent supporter of the school breakfast program.
Mr. Collins was elected to Moncton City Council during the 2004 municipal election, and was appointed chairperson of the Water and Sewer Rates Review Committee and member of the Administrative and Legal Affairs Committee, the Environment Committee, the Transportation Committee, and the City of Moncton Pension Board. Mr. Collins is devoted to the following causes: funding for families that must leave the province for doctor-referred heath care; the development of a Provincial Pediatric Oncology Screening unit to be located at the Dr-Georges-L.-Dumont Hospital. Mr. Collins is also very concerned with the correlation between children's cancer and the use of pesticides. His son, Sean, who battled cancer for four years, died of this disease on July 9, 2007 at the young age of 13.
In his free time, Mr. Collins enjoys skiing, sailing, curling, and golf. He and his wife, Lisette Richard, live in Moncton.
