Description | Center-left three-party coalition formed with the express purpose of countering the growing popularity of former Fidesz member and opposition figure Péter Magyar. Alliance members fear that Magyar's appeal will "steal their thunder" ("ellopni a mennydörgésüket") and diminish substantially their respective anti-Victor Orban bona fides. Alliance consists of the Democratic Coalition (Demokratikus Koalíció, DK), the Hungarian Socialist Party (Magyar Szocialista Párt, MSZP) and Dialogue (Párbeszéd). Alliance is co-lead by current and former leaders of the three parties, Ferenc Gyurcsány of DK, Imre Komjáthi and Ágnes Kunhalmi of MSZP and Dialogue's Richárd Barabás and Rebeka Szabó. Coalition is the successor to the United for Hungary alliance dissolved on March 18, 2024. Coalition holds 32 of 199 mandates in parliament. Alliance chose the Vice-President of the European Parliament Klára Dobrev as its 2026 prime ministerial candidate [DK–MSZP–Párbeszéd pártszövetség; officially registed as, "DK, MSZP, Párbeszéd social democratic-green alliance"; "DK, MSZP, Párbeszéd szociáldemokrata-zöld szövetség" (DK-MSZP-Dialogue)]. |
