always "fun" when the shapefile misses that a town is divided between two districts

added the 2024 state legislative races (thanks, Ohio Secretary of State's office for having the election night site up 2 weeks early since they don't publish a candidate list)

also added the new State Senate/House maps

there's a statpack report, so feel free to interpret 2022 US Senate results in new districts how you wish

anyways, I got the new NC Senate/House maps in... so the once-every-two year tradition has been done yet again

just in time for Parliamentary elections sometime in 2024, the Parliamentary results now go back to 1964 (before the last few days there were constituencies that didn't have results before 1983)

quite a few constituencies go back before that depending on stuff like how often new members are elected or how many failed candidates have Wikipedia entries because they went on to win somewhere else and the such (like if somebody was first elected in 1959, then the last election before them is also here).

Some of the last places to have 1964/66/70 elections added on here were either eternally conservative parts of Southeast England, or a few constituencies in Edinburgh/Glasgow. There were a few races that didn't have the right date until I checked and two where they had a by-election in 1967 and I skipped the 1966 election until just now

who should we credit for getting all the GA county results in?

I just put in the As/Bs and then the places with large margins for either side, and then someone put in the rest

would be easier if the AP was reporting so we could just automate it

guessing the Shoshone County result in the AP is a mistake

The State Senate (17 districts, with copying and pasting to make an A & B map) and State House (100 districts for the first time ever) districts have been entered. The filing deadline is on Saturday.

With WV going to all single member districts, the following states have some multimember districts: New Hampshire, Vermont, New Jersey, Maryland, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Arizona.

Out of those, NJ/SD/ND/AZ use the same districts for the state senate and state house (aside from a few splits in South Dakota due to VRA).

Also hopefully most state shapefiles have the districts in numerical order, instead of having to bounce around the file because the file orders the districts by the last edit or whatever.

fortunately Twitter (or Facebook) can help people figure out vote totals out of these things.

Also, pretty much the only thing that needs to change is the names of the races with it being a de-facto primary that'd advance the winners to the special election

on checking a little more, there was a Cook firm on here and a Cook/RT Strategies firm also on here. There were 2006/07 polls under Cook that were listed as Cook/RT on PollingReport (and some polls from the same sequence were under Cook/RT)

I sorted out the 2006/08 Cook/RT Strategy polling into one firm and the Cook/Kaiser polling is under Cook. One of the two Cooks actually had a bias adjustment attached and the other didn't because I think it was only doing primary polls.

Also, the one poll that produced the bias rating for the Cook/RT combo was a poll that had Dems up by 26 points for Congress with a week left. It was under the "control indicator" race (which was pretty common on the site back then) but if it were under "popular vote" then the bias would have been worse since Dems won a higher percentage of seats than popular vote.

Anyways, the 2020 polls are now in the Cook firm container which didn't have a bias adjustment attached.

But it wouldn't surprise me if there were some things hiding in the depths of PollingReport that either weren't entered on here or were entered a bit weirdly.

the county Gorell won (LA County) isn't colored in at all because Jeff Gorell had two profiles on here, the old profile was used for this race at first, and that profile has been deleted since.. so when you look at the page source, you see something like "canv[2724][35482]=1596" and another entry.. so the map sees two 1596s and since one of them is deleted, if there's an easy way to get rid of it, I haven't figured it out

oddly enough, the Congressman's Wikipedia entry mentions his daughter by name but not his son (but yes, the SC justice is the son of the Congressman)

Was there a formatting error that causes "Registration is Partisan" to be on top of the page?

Hawaii has been done for awhile. Doesn't hurt that it's a state that has county office results on the statewide canvass pdf

found the results which had a CD split, and Ford's statewide margin mostly came out of the 1st CD and he only carried the 2nd CD by 620 votes

actually, the state of Virginia site had posted the 165 vote margin on their site and didn't exactly post the recount totals either (the spreadsheet on their page just listed challenged ballots, not the recount totals)

well, 71 until August, the age thing on the site isn't the actual current age for some reason
