likely more about teacher's unions being the most powerful union in a lot of areas of the state, and if that's not enough, the people who felt this also attacked local control

Hikikomori Blitzkrieg!: what was going on in Crawford County in 1912?
Southeast Kansas had a lot of Lead Mining (mostly south of Crawford county) and for various reasons, socialism and miners went well together at that time

a bit of a unique deviation map when you consider the subject matter also it didn't come close to passing anywhere

Love how Michigan ballot access is "$100 fee" for the legislature and "you gotta actually do work" for everything else..

between this primary and MD03, 2024 might be another good year for female candidates in Dem primaries

Ernie might be in for an actual race here as opposed to just rolling in by 30% because he's Ernie

the 3 Dems filed after Malan, which I suspect was also a factor
of course all 3 of those Dems are thinking of scenarios where they finish 2nd, Newhouse finishes 3rd ala WA03 2022, and then they're a contender (until they lose)

I didn't end up entering the 'fake' Bob Fergusons because I didn't realize there was an organized effort to do that (both 'fake' Bobs withdrew today after AG Bob threatened a lawsuit)

added the new legislative district map, which went reasonably quick since it was just 13 of 49 districts changing and I could copy and paste district lines twice after getting it in for the Senate map
well, quick aside from having to tell it which 49 House districts to attach and not attach while creating the two House maps

feels like having more Democrats (counting Malan here) than Republicans in this field is setting up for a Newhouse vs Smiley top 2

finishing this up and then glancing and realizing it was a 65 candidate race sure was something
and for whatever reason, i've found the Oakland paper on Newspapers.com is either more likely to list the unofficial SF results (or I just haven't figured out where to find those results in the SF paper on Newspapers)

yeah, I expect most of the vote totals I find through Newspapers.com are gonna be unofficial except for areas whose newspapers report official vote totals (Louisville!)
I actually have an idea with the CA State Assembly elections to add more stuff pre-1960 but I haven't gotten around to it

Newspapers.com having a free preview weekend (through Sunday) allowed for me to find that there was a news source that reported vote totals here (instead of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger with partial results having Evers up for a seat he didn't win)
So that's nice.. I might try to make something of the preview weekend since Newspapers.com changed their search page recently

yeah it wouldn't shock me if there were 1990 Census block shapefiles somewhere but it's probably in a format that existed 30 years ago

NYS had had a more modern election results archive for a month or two: [Link]
it's just that most of the stuff on there is already on here (but we now have a map for Moynihan vs Sharpton)

guessing the big issue in contested elections for County Surveyor is somehow taxes (I don't know if they have any power/influence over taxes)

even if this is New Jersey and they might do the full term selection before the primary anyways

there's a few counties where I don't think a candidate list is online right now (NYS only posts the multi-county districts outside of NYC) but whenever they post a general election candidate list, it'll be up somewhere (unless the AP posts primary results which will include unopposed primary candidates)
so.. feel free to add candidates who will be in the general election for a place where NYC where i'm not expecting a list of petition filers.
The counties where I haven't found filers are Albany, Nassau (which could change soon), and NYC. I found lists for places like Broome, Erie, Monroe, Onondaga, Suffolk, Westchester
