Description |
This national convention was held in the First Baptist Church House in Indianapolis IN. Before the convention, party leaders approached Douglas MacArthur, who was not interested in running for President. Of the 116 delegate votes, 39 came from IN. Although Hamblen won the nomination on the first ballot, the vote without IN would have been Holtwick 40, Hamblen 36. Nominees: Stuart Hamblen CA for President, Enoch A. Holtwick IL for Vice-President. Holtwick was nominated for VP unanimously on the first ballot (all 116 votes). He was a history professor at Greenville College.
