The 1st Greenback Party National Convention was held in the Academy of Music in Indianapolis IN. Peter Cooper was nominated for President on the first ballot as shown here. Newton Booth was nominated for vice president but declined to run; he was replaced on the ballot by Samuel F. Cary.
