Description |
The 7th Prohibition Party National Convention assembled in Exposition Hall, Pittsburgh PA. During the discussion of the party platform, many of the silver delegates bolted and organized a National Prohibition Party. The convention voted not to endorse free silver in the platform by a margin of 650-160. During the convention, the "Broad Gauge" delegates favored including the silver plank, while the "Narrow Gauge" delegates wanted to limit the platform to issues of alcohol.
The convention nominated Joshua Levering MD for President and Hale Johnson IL for VP. The presidential nomination was unanimous.
