Description |
The Republican state convention on 5/15/1896 chose not to make a nomination in favor of a fusion nominee to be chosen by the Populists.
Mason was unanimously nominated at the Democratic state convention after Lee Overman and Frank Ray withdrew.
The Republican state committee met on 9/10 and nominated Reynolds, after finding Dockery's support of Bryan for president unacceptable.
