DescriptionThe Jobless Party was formed in early 1932. A candidate for a special election to the U.S. House received 12% of the vote, which bouyed hopes for the fledgling party. It ran a number of candidates in the general election that year, including James R. Cox of PA for President. In addition to running its own nominees, it endorsed candidates from the major parties who reflected its interest in assisting people find work. The party's name did not attract unemployed voters, and that year Cox only received 741 votes. This party existed primarily in PA.
