Description | Most folks in western Missouri don’t know too much about Todd Akin, the GOP Congressman who wants to eject Democrat Claire McCaskill from her seat in the U.S. Senate.
For many, the story zipping around the state via the Internet today isn’t likely to create a great first impression.
As you’ll see here, Akin was having a radio chat with Tony Perkins of the ultra-conservative Family Research Council.
Perkins brought up a subject of high importance to the nation’s future — should NBC have cut the words “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance during its airing of the U.S. Open golf tournament?
Akin replied thusly:
“I think NBC has a long record of being very liberal and at the heart of liberalism, really, is a hatred for God and a belief that government should replace God. So, they’ve had a long history of not being at all favorable toward many of things that have been such a blessing to our country.” |
