Description | Christy Clark will become British Columbia’s 35th premier, after almost 57,000 BC Liberal members cast their ballots online and by telephone on Saturday.
Ms. Clark, in her opening address after the vote results were announced, positioned herself as Premier Mom, hammering on her Family First platform that she first promised on the opening day of her campaign.
“More than anything, our government will be tuned into families as never before,” she said. “My top priority will be to put families first... This is the foundation of our communities, this is the building block of our future.”
She singled out her chief rival, Kevin Falcon, in offering her thanks. "I have admired your will and determination," she said, inviting him to help her continue to build the BC Liberal party. |
