Description | A persistent, false rumor is spreading through Iowa that voters who wear clothing or buttons supporting a political candidate will be turned away from the polling place.
Leaders in Waterloo, where the rumor has been rampant in the black community, worry that poll workers across the state will believe the false information and send away people displaying political allegiance before they can vote.
Iowans can wear political paraphernalia when they cast their votes, election officials said Tuesday. However, precinct workers or poll watchers may not wear their opinions on their clothing.
