DescriptionWASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Tom Feeney of Florida said Monday that the Justice Department has asked for "more information" about his ties to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

But the Oviedo Republican said he is "not a target" and is "voluntarily cooperating" with federal authorities, who have expanded their influence-peddling investigation in recent days to other associates of Abramoff, jailed for bribing public officials.

A former congressional staff member is expected to plead guilty today to a conspiracy charge for helping Abramoff get inside information in exchange for accepting $40,000 worth of money and tickets to sporting events and concerts.

Mark Zachares, formerly of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, also joined Feeney, Abramoff and others on a 2003 golf trip to Scotland paid for by "Abramoff and his clients," according to court documents.

The $160,000 trip included luxury hotels, meals and drinks at St. Andrews and private jet service between Maryland and Scotland, according to papers filed against Zachares.
