Description | It could come down to a fistful of delegates.
Elwyn Tinklenberg recently called the 6th District DFL endorsement fight between himself and child safety advocate Patty Wetterling a “dead heat.”
Wetterling, who dropped out of the U.S. Senate race in January to enter the 6th District fray, senses she’s leading the former Ventura Transportation commissioner in the delegate count. “I feel like I’m in the lead — I’m not taking anything for granted,” said Wetterling.
The pool of uncommitted delegates — 20, less, it’s been speculated — is tight.
“It’s a small number of the total (delegates) people deciding our future,” said Wetterling, who lost the 6th District election two years ago.
Tinklenberg entered the 6th District race 18 months ago not anticipating an endorsement battle with a woman whose name in Minnesota, Patty Wetterling, is that of almost a neighbor.
It came as a shock.
“It was a huge adjustment,” said Tinklenberg, whom Wetterling had told she would not be running for Congress. |
