Description | Rep. Ernest Istook (R-OK) will announce on Monday that he will “give up his House seat to run for governor against popular Democratic incumbent Brad Henry,” reports Roll Call. Democrats outnumber Republicans in Oklahoma by more than 278,000 voters and only three Republicans have ever been elected governor in the state’s history.
“Further signaling Istook’s uphill battle, a recent poll commissioned by the Oklahoma Republican Party found” Henry leading Istook 44% to 36%. |
