Description | It would be hard to find two candidates who clash more intensely on social and fiscal issues than the women running for Congress in District 20.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a longtime liberal state legislator who supports abortion rights and criticizes the administration's actions in Iraq and its proposed constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. A rising star in the Democratic Party, she rarely mentions her opponent, saving most of her attacks for President Bush.
Margaret Hostetter, a conservative Republican real estate agent, says she represents ''traditional Judeo-Christian values.'' She is best known for attacking the ''homosexual agenda'' in the public schools. She says her opponent is a radical socialist who can't meet her goals of reducing the deficit while increasing funding for various programs. |
