Court consists of seven justices, of which the longest serving is chief justice (unless the position is declined).
Terms for justices last for 6 years. Upon a vacancy, the Judicial Nominating Commission presents three names to the Governor. The Governor chooses one to serve on the court. After appointment, a retention election occurs at the next general election after the justice's first completed year on the court. If successful, the justice serves until another retention election 6 years after this election.
Mandatory retirement at age 75.
