Info | Rep. Bonnie Sue Cooper, a Republican, represents parts of Platte and Clay counties (District 32) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
Rep. Cooper was appointed to serve on the Missouri Arts Council Trust Fund; the Committee on Management and Productivity (COMAP) and as a member of the AD Hoc Task Force on Total Compensation; the NCSL Assembly on Federal Issues - Commerce and Communications Committee and the Centers for Advanced Technology Oversight Committee.
In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Cooper, a former associate circuit clerk for Clay County, is director of community relations for Wexford Place Retirement Center.
Significant legislative accomplishments for Rep. Cooper include a comprehensive AIDS bill and her involvement with state budget and appropriations measures.
Rep. Cooper serves as the Chair of the American Legislative Exchange Council and served as Missouri's State Chair of that organization for seven years. She is past president of the National Order of Women Legislators, Chair of the National Foundation of Women Legislators and serves on the National Board of Women in Government.
In addition, Rep. Cooper is a member of the following organizations: St. Charles Catholic Church; Platte County Women's Exchange; K.C.I./Northland Chamber of Commerce; Platte County Economic Development Council; Maple Woods Community College Advisory Board; and the board of Reach Out America anti-drug program for children.
Rep. Cooper was honored by the City Council of Kansas City, Mo. for her professional approach to Kansas City issues. She has been in Who's Who in Government and received the Missouri Judicial Conference Award; American Legislative Exchange Jeffersonian Award; Missouri Medical Award; Legislator of the Year Award from the Missouri Dental Association; and the Missouri Community College Legislative Award in 1992 and 1994. She served as an official election observer for the El Salvador elections in March, 1994 as a delegate with Freedom House and led an official delegation of elected representatives to Guatemala in 1995.
Rep. Cooper resides in Kansas City, Mo. She is the mother of three daughters: Danna Corcoran, Angela Cooper, Kim Sloan, and four grandchildren.
