Info | HOOD, George Ezekial, a Representative from North Carolina; born near Goldsboro, Wayne County, N.C., January 25, 1875; attended the public schools; became a telegraph operator; studied law; was admitted to the bar of the supreme court of North Carolina in 1896 and commenced practice in Goldsboro, N.C.; treasurer of Wayne County 1898-1900; served in the State house of representatives 1899-1901; mayor of Goldsboro 1901-1907; secretary of the Wayne County Democratic executive committee 1896-1900; captain in the Second Regiment of the North Carolina National Guard and subsequently promoted to colonel 1899-1909; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-fourth and Sixty-fifth Congresses (March 4, 1915-March 3, 1919); was not a candidate for renomination in 1918; practicing attorney in Goldsboro, N.C., until his death there March 8, 1960; interment in Willow Dale Cemetery.
