InfoGunner DeLay is a 42 year old attorney that resides in Fort Smith, along with his wife Robin, and their four children, Taylor, Gunner Jr., Caroline & Suzanna. He is a life long resident of Northwest Arkansas. After graduating from Southside High School in Fort Smith in 1981, he attended the University of Arkansas where he obtained his Bachelors degree in business administration. In the fall of 1985, he entered law school at the University of Tulsa and later transferred to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he graduated with his law degree.

In the summer of 1988, he joined the law firm of Shaw, Ledbetter, Hornberger, Cogbill, and Arnold as an associate. His primary responsibility was litigating and handling appeals on behalf of insurance defense clients. In 1991, he started the DeLay Law Firm and was engaged in the general practice of law. In the summer of 1996, he joined the law firm of Rush, Rush & Cook of which he is now a partner. He continues to do most of his work in the court room and before the Court of Appeals.

At the age of 31, Gunner entered the arena of public service. He ran for the state house in 1994 and defeated a 14 year incumbent. Two years later, he ran for the house again and defeated a 34 year incumbent, who was a former Speaker of the House. In 1998, Gunner won a seat in the Arkansas State Senate and served there four years. In 2001, Gunner ran in a special election to fill the congressional seat vacated by Congressman Asa Hutchinson when he was appointed by President Bush to the DEA. He was narrowly defeated in a runoff election by current Third District Congressman, John Boozman.

Gunner spends most of his leisure time watching his children participate in their various activities and watching high school sports. He still plays basketball three times a week and also plays adult team tennis. Last year his 3.5 tennis team won the state title and traveled to Charleston, South Carolina to compete in the Southern Sectionals. He loves the Razorbacks and the Dallas Cowboys.
