For over fifty years, Bramlett has owned and operated Bramlett Farms and Bramlett Gin & Delint Company in Clarksdale. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy where he was an All American football player in 1944 and 1945, and in 1988, he was inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. After graduation from the Naval Academy, he served as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. He is also the in-state representative for U.S. Senator Thad Cochran.
