Info | JOHNSON, Andrew Nathan - Methodist Episcopal evangelist and Prohibition leader.
Born in 1876 in Jackson County KY; son of William Johnson. Family relocated to Wilmore KY in his youth.
Asbury College 1903; DD from Northern University, Ph.D. from Milton University.
Held over 1,000 revivals throughout the nation. Opponent of alcohol, evolution, and modernism. During annual Methodist conferences, Johnson often held revivals outside during the business sessions.
Married Augusta Balch of Lynn MA; children Andrew and Marion.
Died on 8/30/1959; buried in Wilmore KY.
