InfoDaniel O'Donnell, elected to the 69th Assembly District in Manhattan, was born in Queens and grew up in Commack, Long Island with his four brothers and sisters. He worked his way through college and law school, graduating with a B.A. in Public Affairs from George Washington University and a law degree from CUNY Law School.

Throughout his life in public service, ODonnell has fought to make a difference in his neighborhood, which includes Manhattan Valley, Morningside Heights and the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He was a founding member of the New York City Chapter of Citizen Action and the Morningside Heights Historic District Committee. He also held leadership roles as the former chair of the Community Board 9 Housing and Land Use Committee and president of the Broadway Democrats.

Daniel O'Donnell opened his own public interest law firm on the Upper West Side of Manhattan several years ago a community practice that includes representation of tenants and civil rights cases ranging from employment discrimination to First Amendment issues. He has resided in Morningside Heights with his partner, John Banta, for more than a decade.
