Widow of militia leader John Garang, considered the father of the South Sudan nation, and former presidential adviser to current South Sudan president Salva Kiir. Rebecca Garang split from Kiir to join a rebel militia called the Former Detainees group, which joined together with former vice-President Riek Machar to oppose the current government of South Sudan.
