| Info | State Representative Ken Upchurch won his first election to the Kentucky General Assembly in 1998 and has since earned a reputation as an outspoken advocate of both small business and agriculture.

Elected House Republican Whip in 2002, Upchurch served two terms as an integral part of the House Republican Caucus’ leadership team. He helped craft a fiscally responsible state budget that made investments in Kentucky’s future through education, infrastructure and economic development.
A Wayne County native, Ken Upchurch is the son of Martin and Barbara Upchurch and the grandson of Lela Upchurch and the late Kenneth Upchurch.
Upchurch is a graduate of Wayne County High School and holds a degree in Political Science from Eastern Kentucky University. While at Eastern, Ken was elected by his fellow students to serve as Student Body President at Eastern Kentucky University. As President, he represented the needs of over 16,000 students as a member of the University's Board of Regents Ken also served as the Eastern Kentucky Field Representative for U. S. Senator Mitch McConnell from 1995-1996.
An independent business owner, Ken Upchurch is the publisher of The Monticello Stage, a community newspaper in Wayne County.
Ken is married to Melissa and they have one daughter Chelsea. They are proud members and regular attendees of Elk Spring Valley Baptist in Monticello.
