Info | Domingo Martinez is the New Mexico State Auditor elected in November 1998. He is a graduate of the College of Santa Fe with a Bachelors degree in accounting and a graduate of the University of New Mexico with a Masters degree in public administration. He holds the professional designation of Certified Government Financial Manager.
Prior to being elected State Auditor, Mr. Martinez served as an Auditor with the accounting firm of Neff and Company, and an Audit Supervisor with the New Mexico Office of the State Auditor. He was also the Director of the Property Tax Division of the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department and a Rate Analyst Manager for the Insurance Department of the New Mexico State Corporation Commission. He has also served as a Legislative Financial Analyst for the New Mexico State Legislature for the past thirteen sessions. He has over 25 years of experience with the State of New Mexico working with federal, state and local government entities.
Mr. Martinez is a member of several professional organizations including the Association of Government Accountants, National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers, National State Auditors Association, Southwest Intergovernmental Audit Forum, Institute of Management Accountants and also the New Mexico Society of Public Accountants.
Mr. Martinez has been active in many organizations, committees and boards that benefit many citizens. His current work with SER Job's for Progress as a Board member at the national and local level, which works with displaced workers, rural economic development, at risk students, drop outs and young parents, has been a Presidential award winning program. He is also a member of the Northern New Mexico Citizen Advisory Board, which provides advice to the Department of Energy and the Los Alamos National Laboratories in the area of environmental restoration and waste management activities. Domingo also serves on the Board of Advisors of the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials.
