InfoState Representative James Amann (D-Milford), Majority Leader, was first elected to the Connecticut Legislature in 1990. He represents the 118th District in Milford.

Born in Bridgeport, Rep. Amann grew up in Milford where he attended local schools and Jonathon Law High School. He also attended the University of New Haven studying Criminal Justice.

Prior to his election to the State House of Representative, he served as a member of Milford�s Board of Aldermen from 1983 to 1990.

Rep. Amann served as House Chair of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee where he spearheaded landmark health care legislation, was Chair of the House Freshman Caucus from 1991 to 1993 and is a former Assistant Majority Leader and Deputy House Majority Whip. He also was a member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee and the Select Committee on Aging.

Rep. Amann is Director of Business Development for BL Companies headquartered in Meriden. The firm is a leader in the marketing of architecture, engineering, planning, landscape architecture, land surveying, environmental sciences and analytical services.

Rep. Amann and his wife Terri reside in Milford.
