InfoGary Peters was named Commissioner of the Michigan Bureau of State Lottery in April, 2003.

Peters, a member of the Michigan Senate from 1995 to 2002, was vice-president of investments at UBS PaineWebber Inc. in Rochester Hills from 1989 to 2003. Previously, he was an Assistant Vice President Merrill Lynch in Rochester Hills from 1980 to 1989.

Peters currently serves as a Lieutenant Commander and a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist in the United States Naval Reserve. His reserve duty included time in the Persian Gulf supporting Operation Southern Watch, and he served overseas during increased military activity following the September 11th terrorist attacks.

He earned a B.A. (Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) in Politial Science from Alma College, an MBA in finance from the University of Detroit/Mercy and his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School.

He is married to Colleen Ochoa and has thre Children - Gary Jr., Madeleine and Alana.
