InfoGerald H. “Jerry” Little was born in Concord, New Hampshire on April 1, 1955. He and his siblings are the ninth generation of his family to live in the state. He graduated from Concord High School in 1973 and earned his B.A. in Interpersonal Communication from the University of New Hampshire, graduating in 1977. He married his high school sweetheart, Heidi on August 26, 1978. They have one daughter, a son-in-law and a grandson.

Jerry and Heidi were both born at Concord Hospital and lived in Concord until 2005 when they moved to a circa 1800 farm house in Weare. There they have pursued hobby farming, clearing and tending gardens and bee hives and raising heritage breed goats, sheep and turkeys and a dozen laying hens.

Jerry’s early career was in radio. He was a reporter for Concord radio stations WKXL and WJYY, where his work focused often on issues under debate at the State House. This is when he discovered a keen interest in public policy. Following a brief stint as assignment editor at WMUR Newsnine in Manchester, he served as press secretary to Republican Governor John H. Sununu.

At the close of the Sununu administration Jerry joined the New Hampshire Bankers Association as Director of Public and Media Relations. In two years he was elevated to the position of President of the NHBA and Executive Director of the NHBA Insurance Trust, which provides health and life insurance benefits to thousands of employees of community banks across the state and their family members. His efforts resulted in being named the U.S. Small Business Association’s 2003 NH Small Business Advocate of the year.

Jerry retired from his roles at the NHBA and the NHBAIT on December 31, 2011. On retirement, Jerry was honored to receive written commendations for his years of service to New Hampshire families and businesses from Congressman Frank Guinta, Governor John Lynch and House Speaker William O’Brien. Since retirement, Jerry and Heidi have been focused on their family, their small farm, a period-correct energy-efficiency renovation of their 200-plus year old farm house and their community.

He is grateful for the education, formal and otherwise, that he received as a life-long resident of the state, for the blessing of close family, and for the options and opportunities New Hampshire provided that allowed him to raise a family, run a small business, and to follow his interests in public policy and politics at the grassroots and professional levels.
