Harry was born in 1944 in Los Angeles. His parents, Mary and Peter Scolinos, were both Greek immigrants to the United States. They built a home in San Gabriel to which they moved with Harry in 1947. Harry�s mother still lives in that same house.
Harry grew up in San Gabriel and attended Washington and Coolidge Grammar Schools. Harry played both baseball and football at San Gabriel High School and graduated in 1962. Harry went to college at Cal Poly Pomona where he was student body vice-president. He graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science.
After graduation, Harry enlisted in the Army and went to Officer Candidate School, and became a 2nd Lieutenant in the Infantry in 1967. He subsequently attended Military Intelligence School and went to Vietnam in 1969. While in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Harry and his wife Connie were married in 1968. Connie�s parents are also Greek immigrant. Connie graduated from the Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and became a registered nurse. They have five children: Tasia Scolinos, 31; Alicia Scolinos Meddars, 29; Lea Scolinos, 27; Peter Scolinos, 25; and Christiana, 20. He has two grandchildren.
Upon receiving his honorable discharge from th Army in 1970, Harry enrolled in night law school while working full time for the Automobile Club. He graduated from Beverly Law School (now Whittier Law School) in 1974 and became a member of the California Bar. He continued to work for the Automobile Club as an attorney in their legal department. He then became an attorney for Fremont Indemnity Insurance Company in 1978. In 1980 Harry founded a law practice in Los Angeles. He moved the firm in Pasadena, where he has stayed ever since. He is senior partner of Scolinos, Shelton & Nevell which specializes n civil litigation, primarily representing people who have suffered personal injuries.
In 1998, Harry founded U.S. Fingerprinting Inc. which is headquartered in Pasadena. The goal of the company was to provide mobile fingerprinting trucks which could scan fingerprints of children and store them for the use of law enforcement for identification in case they became victims of crimes. Harry is CEO of the company which has grown into the largest mobile livescan fingerprinting service in the United States.
Throughout his years in Pasadena, Harry has been involved in numerous local non-profit entities. Harry has been on the Board of Lake Avenue Church; the Walter Hoving Home, which helps female drug users get off the streets through occupational training; the Door of Hope, which provides shelter for homeless families; and the Braille Institute, which assists the blind. He is also a member of the Pasadena Chapter of the NAACP and the Rotary Club of Pasadena.
