Info | Ron Monnig is the Democratic candidate for Missouri State House of Representatives, 48th District.
A retired small business owner, Mr. Monnig is currently serving his 8th term on the Slater City Council. He is a past president of the Missouri Municipal League and holds the distinction of being the longest-tenured board member. Notably, Ron was the first president from rural mid-Missouri in over 70 years.
Ron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History/Government from Columbia College. He is a lifetime resident in the 48th District and has been active in civic affairs throughout his life beginning in High School.
Early in his civic career he worked for Congressman Jerry Litton to secure social security and veterans benefits. Ron has served as a volunteer and elected or appointed official for numerous organizations including the Howard County Ambulance Board of Directors, Glasgow Lion’s Club (past-president), Slater Optimist Club (past-president), Slater Youth Center Board of Directors, MO One Call (Board of Directors), ‘The Wall That Heals’ Co-Chair, Slater 125th Anniversary Co-Chair, Editor ‘History of Slater', and the Slater Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Monnig is the recipient of the Columbia College "Outstanding Community Service Award" and is a Silver Life member of the NAACP. Ron is a proud father of six children and the grandfather of eight.
