Info | Ralph L. Maxwell was born in Nashville, Washington County, Illinois, on April 9, 1905. He received his elementary and high school education in the Nashville schools and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1931 with an A.B. Degree and in 1932 with an LL.B. Degree from the College of Law. He began the practice of law in 1932 at Nashville and in 1936 was elected to the office of State’s Attorney of Washington County. He continued private practice in conjunction with his office duties, was re-elected in 1940 and 1944 and resigned his office in June 1945 upon his election as Circuit Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit. In June 1951 he was elected to the Supreme Court from the First Supreme Court District. He died August 29, 1956.
