Info | A native of Spartanburg County who attended Byrnes High School, Bill married his high-school sweetheart Faye Wood, and together they have raised two sons right here in Reidville. Both boys graduated from Clemson. Faye and Bill have three grand-children.
Strengthening the institutions of our community are important to the Chumleys. They are active members of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where Bill is a deacon and chairman of the cemetery committee.
Bill's work for our community has inspired him to be everything from a Little League coach to helping reinstate the Reidville town charter. His life-long interest in the storied history of our area inspired him to co-found the Reidville Historical Society.
A farmer, Bill has spent his whole life involved in agriculture and professional landscaping. In fact, he was the 39th Certified Nurseryman in South Carolina. He is the founder and president of Chumley Enterprises, a landscaping business, and he and Faye co-founded Southern Shade Nursery off of Highway 101. Two years ago Bill served as an officer of Friends of Ben's Creek which organized to oppose the landfill proposal.
As a businessman, Bill has proven to be not only a hard worker, but also an innovative thinker. His experience and insight have resulted in 7 US Patents and 3 Federal Trademarks. Bill understands what it takes to make a payroll and keep a business going. He finds inspiration in his work and has started four businesses (Chumley Enterprises, Southern Shade Nursery, Reidville Products International, and Drainbox).
