Info | I was born in the Bronx, New York where I lived for 8 years before my family moved to Queens (after a brief stay in Houston, Texas). I attended Bishop Reilly High School in Fresh Meadows, New York before attending New York University (in Greenwich Village) at which I obtained my B.A. degree. While at N.Y.U., I was elected Freshman Representative, Sophomore Representative and President of the Student Council for Washington Square and University College. I also served on the Faculty Curriculum Committee and graduated cum laude with a 3.69 average. I held many other positions at the school and financed the formation of an alternative newspaper on campus.
I attended Hofstra University School of Law in Nassau County and formed the Republican Law Students Association which expanded rapidly throughout New York State. As an attorney, I worked at various firms and as General Counsel for a hospital. I have also taught on a college level since shortly after I obtained my Juris Doctorate degree. I currently have my own law office in Mineola, New York and teach as an Adjunct Lecturer at Briarcliffe College in Bethpage, Long Island. I am qualified to teach many classes but most recently I have taught American History I & II, Ethics, Introductory Psychology, Sociology, Interpersonal Communications, Sociology of Crime & Deviance, Business Law I & II, Business Ethics, Microeconomics, Introduction to Management, Principles of Business, Small Business Management, Critical Thinking, as well as a number of other courses. Since graduating from law school, I also twice served as President of the Hoftsra University School of Law Alumni Association (after serving for a few years as a Class Representative).
For two and a half years, I produced and hosted my own cable television show entitled "In Focus" and I have appeared on over 200 national talk shows including Donahue, Geraldo, Sally Jessy Raphael, Jenny Jones, Jerry Springer, 9 Broadcast Plaza, NewsTalk Television, and others, usually in the capacity as an expert on one topic or another. For many years, I served on a committee to reform the Rockefeller Drug Laws and have worked to decriminalize prostitution. I also was a diplomatic guest of the Republic of South Africa and through our State Department, I was able to meet with opposition leaders during the time that country was in transition.
Although I started life as a Reform Democrat, my major political involvement has been in the Republican Party. I served as Law Committee Chairman of the Queens County Republican Party and as Acting State Committeeman for the 25th Assembly District. I ran as a Presidential Delegate for Reagan and Forbes and for 16 years served as President of the New York Young Republican Club, a group of young professionals seeking to influence the Republican Party. I also served as New York State Youth Coordinator for Reagan/Bush and founded the Federation of New York State Young Republican Clubs, Inc.
While I have always been a libertarian philosophically and morally, I voted Republican because I found them to be the lesser of the two evils. However, I slowly came to the realization that voting Republican was not leading to smaller government or to the "live and let live" philosophy I thought the party stood for. Therefore, about 1 year ago, I joined the Libertarian Party.
I was appointed College Outreach Coordinator by the State Committee of the Libertarian Party in New York State. Since then, I have been elected to serve as the State Committeeman for Manhattan and Queens, as an At-Large Delegate, as a Delegate to the National Convention and as an Elector should our Presidential Candidate win the next election. I also formed this Libertarian Freedom Council and briefly served on the National Platform Committee, having been appointed by John Clifton, the Chairman of the LPNY.
I hope to use my skills, abilities and experience to help the Libertarian Party to become a more viable political entity and I especially look forward to working with the charismatic, intelligent individuals who currently serve on this Libertarian Freedom Council.
