Info | State Representative Elizabeth Coulson, of Glenview, Illinois, has served in the Illinois General Assembly since 1997. Coulson has received numerous awards for her work on issues and legislation affecting seniors, children, the disabled, healthcare, education and ethics reform.
Coulson serves in the Legislature as Spokesperson on the Business & Occupational Licenses Committee, Spokesperson for the Health & Healthcare Disparities Committee and as a member of the Elementary and Secondary Education Appropriations, Disability Services, Human Services Appropriations, Financial Institutions and Health Care Licenses Committees.
She also serves on the State’s Legislative Ethics Commission, Joint Committee on Government Reform, Community Services Funding Commission, Illinois Health Policy Center Advisory Panel, Chronic Disease & Health Promotion Task Force, the Early Learning Council and the Illinois Children’s Mental Health Partnership.
An alumna of Wellesley College and the University of Kansas (B.S. Education), Coulson holds an Advanced Certificate in Physical Therapy from Northwestern University Medical School, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. A Ph.D. Candidate in the School of Public Health, University of Illinois at Chicago in Health Policy and Administration, Coulson has been a physical therapist since 1977. She was a Professor and Department Chair at the Chicago Medical School from 1981-2002, teaching physical therapy, health policy and ethics.
The Chicago Tribune in its endorsement called Rep. Coulson, “one of the easiest endorsement choices in the entire legislature. Representative Coulson resides in Glenview with her husband Bill, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, now an entertainment litigator with the firm of Gold & Coulson in Chicago.
