Info | Fatima Houda-Pepin was formerly lecturer at the Université du Québec à Montréal and the Université de Montréal. She was successively Vice-Chair and Chair of the Committee on Intercultural Relations of the city of Montréal. From 1981 to 1994, she worked as a Consultant in intercultural education, immigration and international affairs for the Federal Government, the Government of Québec, the City of Montréal and other private enterprises. Her academic studies, rich and varied, include a bachelor's degree in political science, a diploma in commerce, a master's degree in international relations, a master's degree in library and information science and doctoral studies in international politics.
Fatima Houda-Pepin was first elected as Member for La Pinière in 1994. She was reelected in 1998 and 2003.
During her first term, she was both the Official Opposition critic for immigration and cultural communities and the Official Opposition critic for international relations and French-language affairs. During her second term, she was the Official Opposition critic for the information highway, for government services and for housing.
She is a dynamic and determined woman actively involved in her community who developed many projects in partnership with local organizations such as Carrefour jeunesse emploi de La Pinière. She is responsible for the complete renovation of the Taschereau interchange (an 86-million dollar investment to assure free-flow and transport security at the intersection of Highay 10 and to lower noise pollution), as well as financial programs to help the victims of pyrite damage, especially the low- and average-income families on the South shore of Montréal.
She was appointed Chair of the Montérégie Liberal Caucus and serves as a board member of the Conseil régional de développement de la Montérégie. Fatima Houda-Pepin and her spouse, Paul Pepin, have two children, Anoual and Tamy.
