InfoDr. Hugh Cort is a psychiatrist who has worked at Brookwood Hospital for five years and is now semi-retired and sees patients on a part-time basis at his outpatient clinic in Mountain Brook Office Park. He is a kind and compassionate person with whom people converse easily. His spiritual talent is the gift of encouragement.

Dr. Cort is a resident of Mountain Brook, where he lives with his wife of nearly eighteen years, Deborah.

As a life-long member of the Republican Party and currently a member of the President’s Club of the RNC, Dr. Cort has had the privilege of meeting many Senators and Congressmen, as well as the President, in his years of association with this organization.

Hugh Cort is a member of Cahaba Christian Fellowship and participated in a medical missionary trip to Kenya. He works with a mission group that sends medical supplies, computers and other goods to hospitals, churches and orphanages in Kenya and Tanzania. Dr. Cort is also a member of the Gideons International, who distribute free Bibles world-wide.

A compassionate conservative who believes in traditional values, Dr. Cort strongly supports a pro-life amendment to the U.S. Constitution banning abortion and a pro-marriage amendment stating that marriage is between a man and a woman only. He is against raising taxes and for reducing the size and spending of government. He is pro-business and is in favor of tort reform to reduce frivolous lawsuits.

Dr. Hugh Cort is running for State Representative – District 48 which includes Mountain Brook, Cahaba Heights and several communities along Highway 280 such as Greystone, Brook Highland, and Highland Lakes. He is a member of the Project 280 Task Force and is very interested in helping relieve the traffic congestion of Highway 280.

After the election, he will begin a new radio show, “Professor and the Doc” (a Hannity and Colmes style of program), on 101.1 FM “The Source” radio station. It will give him a “megaphone” to examine many issues that arise in the legislature to keep the people of Alabama informed. On June 6th, please vote for Dr. Hugh Cort in the Republican Primary for State Representative – District 48.
