Info | Mike Harris was born in St. Louis Missouri, on July 26, 1954. His parents, Kenneth D. Harris (deceased) and Geraldine, were are also St. Louis natives, where his family has resided for 7 generations. Harris has two younger siblings, Linda and John.
Harris attended high school at Lafayette High School in Ballwin Missouri, and graduated in 1972. He attended Meremec Community College for one year before attending the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona from 1973-1976; and the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado from 1977-1979. Harris earned an MBA from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
Harris accepted his first full time job in Arizona selling typewriters for Typetronics Business Systems. Through strict discipline, he rapidly became one of the top producers in the company. Following his work as a salesman, Harris joined the Sierra Technical Group Inc. where he worked for 18 months.
Presently, Harris is the President of Harris Technical Sales, Inc. (HTS), a company he founded in 1983 with gross sales averaging $18 million per year. Through his strong leadership skills, proficient sales and marketing abilities, coupled with strong strategic vision and implementation, Harris has developed and maintained a sterling reputation in the semiconductor industry. As a 25-year semiconductor industry veteran, he has a proven ability to adapt to changing situations and environments while keeping his vision, and determination.
Harris is dedicated to providing the best-in-class support and service to his customers worldwide. As evidence, he founded Eclipse TechnologyÓ in 1992; with offices in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and China. EclipseÓ provides off shore support of products sold by HTS to industry-wide assembly and test sites throughout Asia. Harris’ goal is to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Throughout his career, Harris has possessed a global comprehension of the semiconductor industry. He developed the ability to identify unique market opportunities that are not currently being addressed, allowing new business to be formed to continue to fulfill the changing and increasing demands of this highly competitive industry.
In 1999, Harris founded TFG Acquisition Group (TFGAG) for the purpose of acquiring divisions and groups of large Fortune 100 companies that could be operated in a more cost-effective manner. By applying a judicious entrepreneurial approach to an average performing business unit, Harris made it possible to reinvent the business and achieve maximum results for the stakeholders.
In 1999 TFGAG tendered a $1.6 Billion offer to acquire the Semiconductor Components Group of Motorola Inc. Although unsuccessful at the first attempt to acquire Motorola assets, Harris made 3 other attempts to acquire strategic assets from Motorola; culminating in September of 2000 with a $10 Billion all cash offer to purchase all of Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector.
Because of his determination, Harris was offered a partnership with AMT Capital Partners, LLC. AMT, a New York based investment-banking firm, served as his financial advisors for the above-mentioned transactions. In April 2002, Harris opened the Scottsdale office for AMT Capital Partners, LLC,
Harris also founded Moonwink Inc, an agricultural enterprise for the purpose of breeding livestock, horses and cattle, and growing hay and feed for the livestock. In 1998, Harris acquired a ranch in New Mexico for the ranching operations, and became the President of the Pleasanton Eastside Ditch Company, a public utility with the purpose of providing irrigation water to the farming and ranching communities of Glenwood and Pleasanton, New Mexico. This experience gave Harris a first hand working knowledge of the demands and challenges facing the states rural farmers and agricultural producers.
Harris has been active in equestrian sports and has competed regionally in the "Three Day" event. He has been a member of the United States Combined Training Association (now known as the United States Eventing Association). Harris is also trained in the martial arts of Karate and Ju-Jitsu.
Harris holds an Arizona Teaching Certificate (Substitute) and is on staff as a substitute teacher with the Peoria Unified School District. He teaches math and science for 6th, 7th and 8th grades. He is also a member of the American Mensa Society (AMS) and the Triple Nine Society. The Triple Nine Society is an elite organization of individuals who test in the top 99.9%.
Harris is a proud and loving father. He has a 7-year old son, John Carter.
