Elected to two terms as Mayor of the Borough of West Chester (2002-10)
In November 2005, Richard "Dick" Yoder was elected Mayor for a second four-year term, which will expire in January 2010. The eight of thirteen children, Dick a lifelong resident was born and reared in the Borough. He attended West Chester High School and is a 1959 graduate of West Chester State Teachers College. He started his teaching career in the West Chester Public School System and later joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor at West Chester State College in January 1962. He attended graduate school at Villanova University and Temple University. After 38 years as a Teacher, Coach and Academic/Athletic Administrator at West Chester University, Dick retired as a Full-Professor of the Kinesiology Department in January 2000. While at WCU he served as Chairperson of the Department, Football Coach and Director of Athletics. He is a member of both the WCU Killinger Football Hall of Fame and the WCU Sturzebecker Hall of Fame. Dick and his wife Jean have four children (Susan, Rick, Kathy & Jack) and eight grandchildren. He also served in the United States Marine Corps.
