Info | Albert J. Emanuelli is currently the Judge of the Court of Claims/Supreme Court entering the judiciary in 1990.
He was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for distinguished service and contribution to society as an American Jurist/Attorney and as such is permanently listed in the Congressional Record in Washington, DC and was listed in Town & Country Magazine as one of the best matrimonial lawyers in the United States.
Before being elected to the bench, Judge Emanuelli was an active trial attorney for (25) years in Westchester County. During that time, he established legal precedent for New York State in a number of matters notably, O'Brien v. O'Brien, (1985) 66 NY 2d 576 which established a professional medical license was marital property, which concept is now part of law school matrimonial curriculum.
He is the author of "Valuing Professional Licenses Before, During and After Merger into the Career" (N.Y.S.B.A. Family Law Review - June, 1987, Vol. 19 No. 2) and Fairshare: Nationwide monthly matrimonial magazine "The Emerging Doctrine of Merger in Valuing Professions" Dec. 1988.
Chief Judges Judith Kaye and Jonathan Lippman appointed him co-chair of a task force, which conducted public hearings in the Ninth Judicial District to Reduce Civil Litigation. The recommendations included early intervention, which led to current case differential management programs and changes to juror service now in place.
Judge Emanuelli's Professional Associations and Memberships include the Board of Visitors, Pace Law School; Advisor Board, NYS Public Administrators by appointment of Presiding Justice App. Div. Second Judicial Department; NYS Judicial Gender Fairness Committee, Advisory Board: Legal Awareness of Westchester (formerly for women) Westchester County, White Plains and Westchester County Women's Bar Association, Columbian Lawyers Association.
He is a Lecturer/Speaker on Trusts, Estate and Matrimonial topics as a NYS Bar Association panel member addressing judiciary, attorneys, bar association and law school students in continuing legal education programs and/or seminars. Judge Emanuelli is also a Lecture/Speaker for various community organizations, United Jewish Appeal, Westchester Community Foundation, NYS S. Society CPA's Catholic Widows and Widowers Life Insurance Underwriter's Association; Westchester County Estate Planning Council; Senior Citizen Groups; Black Lawyers Association and others on a regular basis.
Judge Emanuelli holds a Juris Doctor from St. John's University Law School, a BSS from Fairfield University, Fairfield, Connecticut and is a graduate of Stepinac High School, White Plains, New York.
