Description Court consists of five justices, of which one is chosen to serve as chief justice on a rotating basis. No more than two justices may come from each of the state's Grand Divisions (East, Middle, and West).

Terms for justices last for up to 8 years. Vacancies may be filled by gubernatorial appointment, but must be confirmed by the General Assembly. Justices face a retention vote at the end of their terms.

Terms start on September 1 and end of August 31.
