| Info | Claude Malhuret was born on the 8 March 1950. After finishing school in Vichy, he studied Medicine at the University of Paris V (Cochin). A Doctor of Medicine, he first worked as a hospital intern, then from 1973 for Coopération Française (Voluntary overseas work) followed by the World Health Organization.
In 1978 he became President of Médecins sans Frontières (Overseas relief agency). He entered the government in March 1986 as Secretary of State for Human Rights close to the Prime Minister (1986-1988). Since 1989 he has been Mayor of Vichy and Président du District de l'Agglomération Vichyssoise (President of the Vichy Urban District) and since 2001 he is Vice-President of Vichy Urban District.. In parallel with this he has acted as a European Deputy from June 1989 to March 1993 then as Deputy for the Allier from 1993 to 1997
