Info | Trent Leisy, District 2 County Councilmen, was born and raised in Northern Colorado and has spent the last 30 years calling Weld County home. Trent is a graduate of Windsor High School and went on to earn a Political Science Degree and History Degree from Colorado State University. Trent currently resides in Windsor, Colorado.
In May of 2001 Trent joined the United States Navy where he attended boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois. He went on to Meridian, Mississippi, where he attended school to become a storekeeper. He was then assigned to the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72, and aircraft carrier based out of Everett, Washington. During his time aboard the Lincoln, he was assigned to the Hazardous Materials Department where he was in charge of the on-load and storage of new material. He managed that department until he separated from the Navy. During his time Trent was deployed twice to 4 combat zones. His first deployment consisted of Operation Southern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. The USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72 was responsible for aircraft support to all three of these combat zones. During the Iraq War, one third of all ordnance dropped on Iraq came from the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72. Up until this point of time the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72 had been the longest deployed carrier since Vietnam.
Toward the end of Trent’s second deployment is when the USS Abraham Lincoln CVN 72 was sent as first responders to the tsunami that hit Indonesia in December of 2004. Once on scene, Trent was part of several crews that were dispatched throughout Indonesia to help get food and water to villages, as well as help with other humanitarian needs during Operation Unified Assistance.
Following Trent’s honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he returned to Windsor in May of 2005 where he went on to finish his degrees from Colorado State University. Trent’s passion has always been in politics and agriculture. He has worked for various agriculture companies and found that his passion was working with farmers with corn seed needs.
After working in the corn seed industry for 13 years Trent decided to become an independent dealer and started Northern Colorado Seeds LLC which is primarily focused on corn seed. He works with farmers in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas and New Mexico. In 2020 Trent began to venture into politics and now runs FyreFox Media LLC which is a social media company that focuses on promoting the American First agenda.
Trent has previously served on the Weld RE-4 School Board. He is currently the Chair of the Colorado Freedom Coalition PAC as well as the Vice-Chair of Mom’s for Liberty Weld County. Trent continues to remain active in his community and is involved in multiple organizations throughout Windsor. Trent enjoys serving his community and his constituents and is honored to be a part of the Weld County Council.
Trent enjoys spending time friends and family, going to Rockies and Eagles games, and spending time in the mountains.
